1966 Big Block Coupe
This 1966 Big Block Corvette Coupe sat in the desert for eleven years with the windows down and no hood on it. Animals had nested in the interior and ate everything! "Basket Case" was a kind term for the condition in which it was found.
The original engine was missing, the entire interior was gutted and it was the home to about ten packrats! The entire car was stripped, inside and out. The interior was completed from the bare fiberglass to a silver-leather interior with headrest seats. The exteriors was sprayed with Silver-Pearl paint. New silver carpet was installed over DynaMat insulation. All new door panels, dash, headliner, interior trim and wiring was installed. The gauges were refurbished and the original transmission was rebuilt. The suspension was entirely restored with poly bushings. N.O.S. side-pipes and covers were found. Finally, a brand new GM Performace Parts 427cid/480HP powerplant was installed. MSD Electronic Ignition provides the spark and March Performance Billet-Aluminum pulleys and brackets were installed.

My first build was this 1981  Corvette Coupe.  It started out in life with a factory L-81 coupled to a 4-speed GM transmission. After it was almost totaled in a T-Bone accident, I went to work on it to turn it into one of the fastest autocross Corvettes in Southern Arizona, yet still retain much of the stock appearance. In fact, the only give-aways were the roll bar and Borla exhaust. Other than that, it retained its stock appearance.

This was a "mild" project. The exterior was left moslty stock. New, black, Grand Sport wheels were added in the same dimensions as the original Z06 wheels. To create more downforce, an extended front spoiler from West Coast Corvettes was installed and the side rocker panels were extended. A K&N LS7 Air Intake System along with a Jet Performance Mass Airflow  Sensor were installed, yielding an additional 35 horsepower over stock. Hawk Ceramic Brake Pads provide the stopping power.
